Quarentined

Noël called me a few weeks back sharing her worries about the Swine Flu, particularly that pregnant women and babies are the most vulnerable. I told her not to worry and that i didn't even believe in it.

Well here i am, laughing stock of the scientific world (of which i do not consider myself a part) sick as a dog with you guessed it... the Pig virus. I'm telling ya, if you can avoid, do. I started with a fierce cold a couple weeks ago, just in time to kill any lively celebration of my 3rd wedding anniversary. Then it seemed i was getting better... but no, just this Tuesday i took a sharp turn for the worse with a serious cough. Then came the sinus congestion, body aches and a fever that was up to 103.2 last night while on Tylenol. Yesterday at my in-laws my mother-in-law loaded me up with all kinds of natural remedies urged me not to take the anti-biotic prescribed by the doctore for infection, and was telling me how this is not as big a deal as everyone's making i tout to be. Today though, i'm at my mother's who has me quarentined to one room in the house on bedrest and is pumping me up with safe over-the-counter drugs, and home cooking. She says it's highly contagious and that i should stay away from Maria, and she keeps spraying everything i touch with disinfectant. I don't really care who's right, to tell you the truth. It's just nice to be taken care of. And really i don't have the energy to protest. Being a mom, you're kind of on your own when it comes to getting well most of the time. Your man's out there in the trenches (literally, Nathan was digging trenches today for a friend who got him some back breaking work) keeping the family afloat and the mom's job is still to take care of someone else. So i'm very thankful that my sister-in-law has taken Maria for 2 days and my mom's taking care of me. The research she's done suggests that you can still be contagious a few days after the fever stops, but i can't stay away from Maria forever. I think i'll get to see her tomorrow night, and boy do i miss her. Don't worry, i won't be blowing off her soup for her or anything.

... Oh, and don't worry about our wedding anniversary. We were able to get our Camelot tickets refunded and celebrated like all good unemployed folk do. We used the remaining balance on our giant gift card to buy donuts, ice cream, and chips, and went home and signed up for a 2 week free trial of Netflix and watched "Say Anything" on our laptop in bed.

  1. YAY! I'm famous. I'm in a blog. :-) I have several things to say about all this:
    1. I side heavily with your mother-in-law on the antibiotics issue.
    2. I miss Maria, too!!
    3. Movies in bed with the hubby kick arse.
    4. I think you mean "quarAntined." ;-) (Sorry, I had to.)
    5. I love you and I wish I could magically make you better and I hope it's over soon.
    6. I just bookmarked your blog, so now I can stalk you facebook-style. :-)
